We would like to announce the marriage of Dennis Herman (Am14Christ) and Simone Demiar (Bamboomoon) on July 18, 2004.
We met on the Christian Singles Dating website on July 12, 2003. If it wasn't for a featured member pop up on the side bar we may have never met. It turned out that both of us had been using your site to meet and help other Christians make it through the long journey back from divorce. Both of us had established friendships with many other Christians on the site. We both loved to read books on establishing and maintaining a strong relationship and felt a desire to share this with others. We both agreed that the ministries we had established took precedence over what the world considered to be a relationship. After all, we had left everything in the Lord's hands up until this point. As with everything the Lord did take control. There are still a few friends that each of us are still in occasional contact with via email. But the surprising thing is, that neither one of us was contacted by new members, after we met.
There have been many strange events. Shortly after meeting face to face, Simone had lost her job due to cut backs in personnel. A few weeks later Dennis was also laid off work. That gave them the advantage of seeing more of one another in a relationship that was established at a distance of over 1400 miles. As the months went by plans were moved up for a marriage. It was thought best that Simone should have the opportunity of finishing a Masters degree in Special Education. A thorough search of universities turned up the most established institution, that actually had the lowest tuition, just a few miles east of Dennis' home in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin.
As fate would have it, after plans of marriage had been established, Dennis was permanently dismissed from his job of 15 years. This left them with no income and little savings to live off of and the expenses of an upcoming wedding mounting. The wedding was not extravagant. Many church members in Miami chipped in with hours of volunteer service to make it the special occasion Simone had been dreaming of. And as the ever watchful Father would have it, God saw fit to send a constant income in a variety of expected ways. There was never a month where a worry set in, or the bills went unpaid. At times it felt like Elijah being fed in the wilderness by the crows.
As we look back and read the Bible we see that God had always meant that a marriage should be special. Not only in the trust for one another, but also in the Lord. In the days of Israel we see that it had been meant for the new married couple to be off of work and get to know each other during the first year of marriage. Even though we have not been off for an entire year, we can look back and see God's hand in all that He has done for us, and how He continues to work in our lives from day to day.
