Peace can be hard to come by. The short answer...when tempted, just say NO, I'm dead to it, Thank-you Lord for the victory!!
Lifestyle can help. Easy on the stress, good nutrition, sometimes a health food store can give natural remedies. Flax seed oil is good for the brain (Barlean's is a good brand, but you need to cut open the container to make sure you got it all out). God has sent help in simple ways like that, if you're open to it. I'm trying "mood mender" tea.
The brain can be retrained. We are fearfully and wonderfully made.
I ask God to send help to you.

It seems kind of selfish but I will ask anyway.
Could you please pray for me that the lord will keep me strong in my walk with Christ? I have lived a destructive life for a very long time and I believe it is only because a little old lady (Grandma, she's with God now) prayed every day for me that I am still here. I am a recovering alcoholic and not yet a member of a Church. I am also not in AA because of conflicting beliefs. Several of the meetings that I have been to, some folks stated to non-believers that they could use anything as their higher power as long as they believe in it. There is only one truth and only one God. So you see, I have no support group other than the body of Christ, which is more than enough, however, it doesn't help that I've not found a Church yet.
I lost my wife to my best friend 9 years ago and was abandoned by my parents when I was 6. I don't blame my screwed up life on that because I know that I put my faith in drugs and alcohol, as a teen, instead of Jesus. Then just alcohol once I joined the Marines. I have been so blessed even through all of that and God has held back his wrath for some reason, yet I feel that now he doesn't hear me or maybe I am just not listening? I am trying very hard now by studying, praying and meditating on God's word.
I pray every day that God would take away the temptation to drink as well as the depression that has gone along with it. Thank you all for your prayers.
